Decentraland is a 3D virtual munrummy+circledo built and owned by its community.

Decentraland is a virtual world where you will make new friends, try out the community's creations, participate in various events and unleash your creativity.

Decentraland does not have an entity that controls the platform or its future. Decentraland's code is open source, so anyone can make improvements to it or build on top of it, and anyone can host the platform, so it can never be taken down.

The virtual world's metropolis, Genesis City, is made up of individual plots of LAND, bought, sold and rented on the Decentraland marketplace, and can be owned by anyone. Meanwhile, the platform's operations and future are proposed, voted on, and decided by the community in governance forums.
